Located downtown on historic Gay Street, the sixth Douglas J Institute opened in 2011 in the old S + W Grand Building. Once a restaurant, the building is a landmark and has been remodeled with careful historic preservation, and keeps its original charm and splendor.
About the area
Offering the perfect blend of small town charm and city life, outdoor enthusiasts also love Knoxville for its proximity to some of the country’s most beautiful scenery. (It’s on the banks of the Tennessee River and in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.) Museums and historical homes keep it cultural, and a thriving music scene keeps it hopping.
