A cosmetologist’s job comes with a unique set of scenarios and situations you may have never thought you’d encounter before. As with many other professions, there are just some things that anyone outside your job just wouldn’t understand. Here are 10 situations that cosmetologists know all too well, and are totally willing to LOL at.
1. The Awkward Shampoo Bowl Moments
We know that a hair wash and scalp massage are relaxing, but this isn’t your personal shower. Try to keep the sighing, singing and napping to a minimum.
2. The Hair Splinters
Have you ever had a hair splinter? 10x worse than a regular splinter. Not to mention all the random places you will find them. You never thought that you’d be trying to tweeze one out of your elbow on your lunch.
3. The TOO MUCH Product Struggle
The defeat when you over-estimated how much product you’d need to complete your color or style. You always try to play it off anyway.
4. The NOT ENOUGH Product Struggle
Now you have to use your product-covered hands to get more, or you have to take off your gloves and go all the way to the back. The struggle is REAL.
5. The Color Changer
When a client comes in misinformed about the process of going from raven black to platinum blonde, and you have to explain that situation. That is not a one day process, friends.
6. The Toning Struggle
When a brassy blonde just. won’t. tone. and you’re at your wits end.
7. The Blow Dryer Timing
When you start blow drying right when a client starts talking, and then you stop. And then they stop talking. And then you start blow drying when they start talking again.
8. The Arm Gains
You can skip arm day at the gym because your whole job is basically an arm workout. You’re out here looking like J. Lo.
