Here at Douglas J Institute, we take pride in our students and their work. We’ve decided to share the amazing journey of one student who has done great things during their time at our Royal Oak campus. This month’s student story belongs to Tullio Dimichele.
About Tullio
Tullio graduated from our Royal Oak campus in our Cosmetology program on July 27, 2017. As a part of our curriculum, we help students learn how to become beauty professionals. This includes resume writing and mock interviews. We also help students set goals and learn how to achieve goals after graduation. We asked Tullio to share what his career goals are.
“After becoming licensed I want to work in a blowout bar with the hopes of eventually owning my own.”
Tullio is one student who joined us right after he graduated from high school, and we’re excited to see such a passionate young individual pursue his dreams with passion and determination.
Why Douglas J Institute?

“I chose Douglas J [Aveda Institute] because I was attracted to all the things they are doing differently in the industry.”

“The most invaluable lesson I learned at Douglas J [Aveda Institute] is how to be OK with failing and how to pick myself up after I do fail.”
Our students are resilient. We love to see them pushing through the hard times and coming back stronger and smarter than before. The beauty industry is all about innovation and change, and we designed our programs to teach our students how to do both.
Why Beauty?
Every student is different. That is one thing we love about teaching the future of the beauty and wellness industries. Every person who attends Douglas J Institute is unique in their learning, goals, and dreams. Some students might say that the beauty industry chose them, and others might say that it has been a lifelong dream to become a hairstylist. We asked Tullio to share why he chose the beauty industry.
“My need to express my artistic side and my love of meeting new people [made me choose the beauty industry.]”
Additionally, we asked him to share his favorite part about the industry.
“Making people feel good is always the most important thing to me, and I’m in an industry that focuses on that.”
