Here at Douglas J Institute, we are all family. From the moment you start classes extending into after you graduate and beyond, we support our students. That’s why we’re featuring a student story from one of our recent Royal Oak campus graduates, Madison Marra! Read below about Madison’s journey and why she chose to pursue her dreams at Douglas J Institute.
About Madison
Madison was one of our talented cosmetology students, but before that she was working at Douglas J part time while she was in high school. We have watched her grow, change, and achieve her goals, and on July 28, 2017, we watched her graduate from our program. We asked Madison to share what her goals are now that she’s finished school.
“I am going to work the front desk at a salon called Andrew Marke in Rochester Hills. My career goals are to always keep expanding my knowledge and get certified in lash extensions, microblading, and extensions.”
We are so proud of Madison and her ambition. In the beauty industry, you have to be willing to learn new techniques and styles and sometimes even push yourself to your creative limits.
Next, we asked Madison who inspires her to keep working hard and reaching for her goals.
“I really look up to my cousins. They have been in the industry for years and still enjoy what they do every single day.”
Why Douglas J Institute?
Like we mentioned, we’ve had the pleasure of knowing Madison for a while now, and we were more than happy when she decided to join us for her education.
“I chose Douglas J because I have family that works for the company, and I have worked for this company for the past four years. I got my first haircut at the Royal Oak Insitute and I told my mom that night that that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”
We know the feeling, Madison. The passion to change lives and create the unexpected lives within all of us here at Douglas J Institute. We’re so excited to see what positive changes Madison makes on the world throughout her career.
Before she left us for a new job in the industry, we asked Madison to share her favorite memory from school.
“All the new friends I have made. It’s crazy how you come in not knowing anyone and you leave with friends that you feel like you’ve known a lifetime. “
Why Beauty?
There are many reasons why someone would pursue a career in the beauty industry, but Madison told us what drives her personally.
“I love making people feel good about themselves. [I love] that [the industry] is always changing, and you can expand your knowledge. You never stop learning new trends. I love that.”
More specifically we asked Madison to share what her favorite service is to perform.
“Blowouts and brow waxes!”
We encourage everyone with a passion for beauty to explore the opportunity to attend cosmetology school. We believe that there’s nothing quite like it, and want to share that belief with everyone we can!
